What is Camfrog?

Camfrog is a video chat rooms service. You install its client on a computer or its app on a phone, create an account, and join rooms where many people are on cam at the same time, often with room moderators keeping order. Paid Pro style upgrades unlock extras. It is still operating.

It is built for communities: rooms that exist whether or not you are in them, with regulars, rules and a person in charge. Vawkr is built for the opposite moment, when you want to chat with strangers right now and leave without a trace.

Why is the download the problem?

Nothing is wrong with a desktop client in itself. The friction is everything around it:

• It has to be installed on every device you use, and on some of them you may not be allowed to install anything.
• An account means an email, a password and a name that follows you from room to room.
• Updates, permissions and the occasional reinstall all sit between you and the first conversation.
• Paid upgrades mean the free version is, by design, the limited one.

A browser tab has none of that. Open it, allow the camera, talk. Close it, and it is gone.

Camfrog vs Vawkr

How do you start?

1. Open vawkr.com in the browser on your phone or computer.
2. Pick your gender, your age, and who you want to chat with: women or men.
3. Confirm you are 18 or over.
4. Allow the camera and microphone when the browser asks. Video is on in every chat.
5. You are paired. Talk, type in the text box, or send an emoji reaction.
6. Tap Next for someone new, or Stop to end.

If you keep coming back you earn karma, which buys matching filters for gender and country. An optional free account carries the karma between devices, but the cam chat works fine without one. Ready? The chat is one tap away.

How does safety work without a room moderator?

In a room, someone else watches the crowd. In a 1 on 1 chat the tool is yours. Tap the flag above the other person's video to report: you choose a reason, the connection ends immediately, a still frame goes to human moderators, and Block is on by default so you are never paired with that person again. Repeat offenders are banned. Everyone confirms they are 18 or over before the chat.

Video and audio travel between the two browsers, directly where the connection allows and otherwise through an encrypted relay that keeps nothing. Nothing is recorded or stored on our side. Two honest limits: with a direct connection the other person may see your IP address, and whatever is on your screen can be recorded by the person watching, so keep your background and your details to yourself.
